چکیده
We introduce a novel computational framework for the multiscale simulation of higher-order continua that allows consideration first-, second-, and third-order effects at both micro- macro-level. In line with classical two-scale approaches, we describe microstructure via representative volume elements are attached each integration point macroscopic problem. To take account extended continuity requirements independent fields macro-level, discretize scales isogeometric analysis (IGA). As result, obtain an IGA 2 -method is conceptually similar to well-known FE -method. demonstrate functionality accuracy this method by means series simulations involving different kinds continua.

Reduced Order Computational Continua
INTRODUCTION The paper presents a new multiscale framework that is both mathematically rigorous and practical in the sense that it has been successfully applied in aerospace, automotive and civil engineering industries. The “rigor” aspect of the method is provided by recently developed computational continua (C) formulation (Fish and Kuznetsov, 2009), which is endowed with fine-scale details, i...
متن کاملComputational homogenization of fibrous piezoelectric materials
Flexible piezoelectric devices made of polymeric materials are widely used for microand nanoelectro-mechanical systems. In particular, numerous recent applications concern energy harvesting. Due to the importance of computational modeling to understand the influence that microscale geometry and constitutive variables exert on the macroscopic behavior, a numerical approach is developed here for ...

متن کاملOn the optimality of the window method in computational homogenization
The window method, where the microstructural sample is embedded into a frame of a homogeneous material, offers an alternative to classical boundary conditions in computational homogenization. Experience with the window method, which is essentially the selfconsistent scheme but with a finite surrounding medium instead of an infinite one, indicates that it delivers faster convergence of the macro...
متن کاملOn Computational Homogenization of Fluid-filled Porous Materials
Porous materials are present in many natural as well as engineered structures. Engineering examples include filters, sanitary products and foams while examples of natural occurrences are oil reservoirs and biological tissue. These materials possess a strongly heterogeneous microstructure consisting of a contiguous solid skeleton, more or less saturated with fluid. The scale of the substructural...
